#TheMummy is an unofficial remake of #Dracula, adding reincarnated lover subplot that Matheson & Coppola would later give to Drac. But I prefer it due to its stylishness & agency of its heroine. Zita Johann destroys Imhotep w. aid of Isis, while Van Helsing analog is helpless.

I wish this wasn’t out of print & so expensive. Earnshaw persuasively debunks the claim that the Demon was added by the producer. Like many genre directors, Tourneur fibbed when interviewed by his fans at Cahiers du Cinema.
