Husband and dad. Artisan of the common good. Wolves fan. Pastor by profession at Fabric Minneapolis (church for the rest of us). Have you listened to somebody today?
Fill in the blank:

The only ideology that would gain power and then label anti-fascist ideology as being a form of “domestic terrorism” is: ______________.

This is not a hard test.

If only these Christian-adjacent churches had financial transparency.

I’d love to see how many financial gifts they raked in following yet another botched “rapture” (which I’ll remind you has no real basis in scripture.)

🤷🏼‍♂️

The recruitment by white christian nationalism has been wild recently.

I don’t want to hear a damn thing about respecting the flag from Trump or his supporters.

Ever again.

If you do not respect the freedoms and aspirations that flag stands for, you do not get to talk about that flag. You do not get to carry that flag.

Eager ego welcome @peterdiganderson.bsky.social to @fabricmpls.bsky.social tomorrow morning to talk about Interfaith and his work with Peace Catalyst Int'l. If you're interested, curious, or even nervous about interfaith collaboration, c'mon over to Field Elementary in Mpls at 10:30 (May 18 2025)

And that, my friends, is the end of the series… and WOLVES WON IN 5!

Easter need not simply be about the resurrection.

Maybe for you it’s also about the ways God’s big vision of love gets picked up and carried by those willing to let it take root in us.

What part of that vision feels compelling for you to pick up for a while?

Jesus is risen, and so can we.

A gentle, firm note to fellow white folks using their pattern recognition skills to identify the connections between the Trump administration and the Hitler regime:

Adolf copy-and-pasted from the Jim Crow South playbook.

Our long-haul work is going to need to be reparations and equity.

Can't I just wait to pay my taxes until after the Department of Education is fully funded again?

Superintendents, teachers, hospital administrators, police officers & chiefs, mayors, governors (etc.) who practice nonviolent noncompliance with unjust and cruel policies are so in right now.

Musical theater: all of the teamwork and pipe dreams of sports, without the concussions.

Which phrases or platitudes— especially religious ones— give you the ick?

I’ll start: “loving on” another person.

Yuck, dude.

The assumption with tariffs— generously— is that at some point when a trade war is done, prices will go back down.

Does that ever actually happen outside of legislated price caps?

Lots of people saying “don’t look at your retirement and investment accounts” this week.

But do it. And remember this feeling — what it’s like for massive policy failures to impact you.

Don’t turn a blind eye and make the same mistake again at the polls; GOP economics is not meant to help the 99%.
April 7, 2025 at 12:04 AM
I just lol’d remembering the concept of “trickle down economics.”

That shit never worked under Reagan, and it DEFINITELY doesn’t now.

It’s just such a stupid person playbook:

Drug is biggest problem!
Brown ppl bring drug!
Get rid of brown ppl!

So stupid. But don’t call them the fucking racists they are, for heaven’s sake.

NBA viewership is down and the NBA has the gall to wonder if it has something to do with the 3-pt line. Media trying to crown the next “face of the NBA.”

I have an idea:

Make it easier to watch games without having to buy another subscription service.

I dare ya!

Simply cannot wait for the bloopers from Milchick’s dancing scene from the S2 finale. Cannot WAIT.

I would offer that the theme song for PBS Kids’ “Carl the Collector” slaps so hard, it joins 90s classics like “Doug” and “Rugrats.”

Deeply grateful for the mysterious and important experience that #Severance has added to my life this winter.

So much of the rest of reality right now can absolutely devour feculence.

Fellow #Timberwolves fans: I’m in an ongoing chat about the ceiling of this year’s team.

What do you think? This year’s team is…

1) A play-in team.
2) First round exit.
3) Victorious in the first round, but that’s it.
4) Headed to the WCF again.
5) Finals contender!
6) Hang the banner!

Take it from a pro like Peter Mayer:

A writer is a person who writes.
A creative is a person who creates.

You’ve got gifts to use… use them well! Contribute to the common good; sing YOUR song; splash some color & vibrancy in the ways you’re able. Tell about the dream you’ve been given to steward.

Mayyadda is coming over to play!

Sunday at 10:30 at Fabric.
We meet every week at Field Elementary School in Minneapolis.

Looking forward to her music and story taking us to deeper places. I believe music is a beautiful pathway into the heart of God.

There are people in the congregation I serve who rely— heavily— on social security payments.

They’ve been late, and have been less than anticipated.

Reality is: Social Security adds exactly $0 to the federal deficit.

When these programs are cut, Trump & Elon will deserve what they have coming.
March 12, 2025 at 4:18 AM
Defund SpaceX.
Defund Elon.
Defund President Business.

$9.2 billion in taxpayer money, and 4 out of 8 launches have exploded. Not a great record, for those keeping score.

NASA would be dragged in front of Congress.

An ancestor was a reformation era pastor in Scotland who wouldn’t pledge fealty to the new king. He was given the choice to lose his head or citizenship. He chose the latter and was exiled.

My ancestors have done harder things than I am currently enduring. I’m gonna stick with it in their honor.
