The EBR-1 Museum also had these two HTR reactors developed for nuclear powered jet engines that would allow bombers to fly for 120 hours!

We took a trip to Idaho for the Teton Ogre Adventure Race (desert edition). Since it was far from the Tetons, we also visited Crater of the Moon National Monument, Arco (the first nuclear powered "city" in the world, and INL's EBR-1 museum.
Oh yeah! First place! I crashed my bike and got my bike jersey all dirty. The nice thing about going fast was I had plenty of time to shower before the awards. Razor-sharp black volcanic rock as far as you can see at Craters of the Moon National Monument. We got to explore some caves at Craters of the Moon National Monument, too. We had to get permission to enter the caves and testify that we weren't wearing clothes that had been in other caves. There is a fungus in some cave systems that is killing bats, so they want to make sure their bats stay healthy. Idaho National Lab's Experimental Breeder Reactor #1 (EBR-1)
