I am optimistic that this plan has the potential to transform Canada’s housing landscape for the better. If done right, this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a fairer, more resilient, and more inclusive country – and make the human right to housing a reality in Canada. – MJH.

Is this the Reichstag fire moment? If you are not scared, you should be.
I don’t know what the limit of this will be, but this is phrased to allow for a wide crackdown on anyone who isn’t MAGA
Trump: "For years those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism we're seeing in our country & it must stop right now. My admin will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity"

There is a real possibility that Charlie Kirk’s death will serve as a pretext for authoritarian purges.

And our political culture does not have much experience with that. Mainstream reporters and politicians are not in the habit of recognizing or naming it.

Eight years into Canada’s National Housing Strategy, the crisis is worse. A new article by CMHC suggests repeating old mistakes and ignores clear evidence that public money must go toward non-market housing to restore affordability for those most in need of a home.

Evicting encampments and confiscating/destroying people’s belongings violates human rights and puts them at greater risk of harms
Today, during a heatwave, Cambridge bylaw and police used heavy machinery to throw out 4 unhoused peoples personal belongings. With no suitable shelter options, they face serious health risks. Evictions should be paused during extreme weather. Learn a better way: homelesshub.ca/book/office-...

City of Cambridge has issued encampment eviction notices meant to be enforced during this heatwave. Instead of supporting people to stay alive, trying to push people out of their shelter. Why are we evicting people during extreme weather?
