We are continuing to see more St George and Union flags in public spaces across South Glos.

While flags can foster pride and unity, campaigns and behaviours linked to the unauthorised displays have raised concerns among many of our residents and communities.

Love our home! The future starts here!
The West is not just the best place to invest, to spend money – it’s also the best place to spend time.

As we write this new chapter for our region, this new Growth Strategy lights the way to a brighter future for us all.

Welcome to the West of England. The future starts here.

Parliament has been in recess, which has meant more time to do even more locally in August, serving you all year round. Here’s a quick snapshot (I did fit in a short break too this summer & hope you did too!)

Looking forward to being back in Parliament tomorrow, championing our community nationally

Sending condolences to all of Dave Baker's friends and loved ones. I know how loved and respected he has been, particularly within our education sector.

Dave will be deeply missed, and I will always be grateful for his gentle humour and wise advice.

My first 100 days, in under 100 seconds.

In this new chapter for the West, together we’re rolling out new green buses, have secured record transport funding, and launched a Youth Guarantee for jobs and training.

We’ve turned the page, and we’re only just getting started!

Great to join South Glos Neighbourhood officers visiting pubs & venues as part of Project Servator.

Project Servator is all about unpredictable, highly visible police deployments designed to disrupt criminal activity while reassuring the public.

Today is D Day+81 years.

Normandy will always be a special place for me after years of having a home in the heart of so much history.

We are now in the final stages of selling up there.

This cherished photo of me, among these heroes, now hangs in pride of place here in Staple Hill.

What a pleasure to meet with @mayorhelengodwin.bsky.social on her first full day in post as Mayor of the West of England. Bodes well for how we will all work together.

Looking forward to the 'swearing in' tomorrow and then unlocking our region's amazing potential for economic growth & prosperity.
I'm focused on delivering the change that people across the West Country can feel: on transport, housing, and training.

Great to meet the team and speak to the leaders of @bathnes.bsky.social @bristolcouncil.bsky.social and @sgloscouncil.bsky.social in my first day as Mayor.

🇬🇧 It was a real honour to be asked to raise the Union Flag to commemorate the start of VE Day celebrations in Mangotsfield today. As Armed Forces Champion it is vital that we remember such important events in our history and it is great that the residents of Mangotsfield now have their own flag pole

Not providing local school places is expensive to the tax payer AND fails our children with special needs. To correct this is long overdue and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to do so.

Glad to hear Minister Pat McFadden confirm that reforms will - for example - help teachers spend more time teaching.
