A #guineapig haiku:

The fridge door opens
No lettuce is forthcoming
Promise unfulfilled

This is Coriander. She’s the youngest #guineapig in our little herd, and is the most active and curious. This was her first time playing outdoors. Coriander loves to zoom around and has figured out if she ignores me as I clean around her, she’ll get the lion’s share of the fresh food.

This is Lemon. She believes she is top #guineapig in our little herd of three. Don’t let that vacant stare fool you; behind those beady eyes lies a mind that is…well, even more vacant. She is the pig most often seen relaxing outside a hide (the better to spot humans who might be carrying treats).

Go to bed, child; I’m sick of managing your emotions for you.

As if #StarWarsUnlimited wasn’t enough of a drain on my wallet, now I discover a remaster of the original Dark Forces came out a couple weeks ago! Stop it, Disney! Let me enjoy some other company’s properties for once!

Went to a #StarWarsUnlimited pre-release event last week, and I’ve gone down the rabbit-hole hard. Didn’t think it looked very good before seeing it in person, but the gameplay is right up my alley. Must. Stop. Buying. Boosters! 😬

Magnets are magic.

"Oh yeah, there's some naturally occuring rocks that telekinetically attract other material using an invisible field that also doesn't require any input of energy."

Suuuuuuuuure, "science".

After my children graduated from diapers, I swore to myself that I was never going to be responsible for cleaning someone else’s poop again (give or take the vagaries of aging).

Then we got guinea pigs. 💩💩💩

When I was growing up, kids played video games. Now that my children are growing up, it seems that video games are playing kids.

How are you spending your unpaid hours recently?

For me, I'm splitting my time between #parenting, cleaning a seemingly endless supply of guinea pig poop, and designing a #cardgame in which parodies and archetypal stereotypes fight over American bacon.

After browsing suggested feeds, BlueSky appears to be a bunch of weirdos (that’s a good thing), and the weirdest thing I’ve made recently is a base-emoji CLI in #python:

gist.github.com/onecrayon/40...

It’s like base64 encoding but friendly looking and using 5x as many bytes as the source data!

Well, I signed up to see what Bluesky is like now that it’s not all exclusive, but…I don’t know anyone over here, so back to Mastodon and my followed tags I go, I guess. Following random strangers from suggested feeds is not really my thing.
