Somehow I always preferred this version to Duke 3d. Something about it just felt haunted or weird. Also Dukebots continuously spamming their "use" key and grunting was unnerving

If I remember correctly, Duke 3d's tracks were extremely minimal as is too.

It really is just a Windows 7 computer that auto launches the package software on startup. A reboot fixed the issue and I was able to get my package
