I had the honour of receiving one of her cards. My wife’s reaction on seeing the card was “Oh, we’re never throwing this away.”

My genealogy blog is very creatively titled Ian Hadden’s Family History at ianhadden.org. (Maybe it’s time for a rebrand??)

Do we have the right to publicize? Absolutely. Should we? Depends. We must provide effective context telling the story and make effort to minimize risk of harm. Just my thoughts.

Very thoughtful piece. The dilemma for me is that the ‘secrets’ I have found in my family were found in publicly available records. I know of them only because I looked. Are these stories really secret or just forgotten and/or not passed down. One involves my grandparents so I stay silent for now.

I’ve seen a few examples posted and it’s something I definitely will try out.

My whole maternal family is from Ireland (sighing as I exhale).

I learned a while ago that growing old ain’t for sissies!
