We got to spend quite a bit of time with a large pack (22+) of African Wild Dogs in Okavango Delta last year & saw this differently coloured female who, while not a matriarch, was THE lead in a lot of the hunts & kills. It became very clear that she was good at what she did, we called her Blondie

Another couple of shots of African Wild Dogs in Okavango Delta, Botswana. These were seconds after an Impala kill showing the aftermath, brutal - yes, but also amazing.
Very hard for the drivers and guides to follow these chases, they move extremely fast and the terrain can be difficult.

How many African Wild Dogs can you count in this image that I took in the Okavango Delta in Botswana? I counted 22, but that’s on my phone screen. We spent quite a few days with these amazing animals, exhilarating following them in full hunt mode.

Several years ago, a small group of us went to a location north of Perth, Australia where you can jump into waist deep water (an island only accessible by boat) and be joined, entirely on their terms and volition, by Australian Sea Lions. We spent several hours enjoying their company and curiosity.
