Come on mate, you know that we didn't rename because we're transphobic. Whether you agree with the decision or not, it's clear we just wanted a name which did what it says on the tin.

I've loved working closer with our media and comms team in the last few months. I really feel like my work to change public policy is connected to our comms strategy. So, if you'd like to work with them (and me) too, give this a shot.

Senior officer positions can be so good - autonomy, trust and just getting on with things.

I don't know of any older unanswered consultations, do you?

The outcome's the important bit - that there are fewer cars parked on the pavement, with everyone knowing where it was safe and necessary, whether they're driving, walking or wheeling.

For what it's worth, I think that the question in this article of a "nationwide ban" or giving councils more powers is a red herring. Any "ban" would be left up to councils to decide where to enforce and where to exempt. That's absolutely right, they know their streets best.

Continued coverage shouldn't be needed, though. Powers for councils are a simple, cheap, quick fix which has worked in London and Scotland. They need finally to be rolled out in the English Devolution Bill.

I'm rewatching Capaldi right now, I don't really remember it so I don't think it's just nostalgia, but it's reminding me it was sooooooo much better

Ah yes, that was a "y'all" you! (Congrats, by the way). Brilliant.

The multi-modal journeys stuff is particularly interesting - hope you're submitting to the new transport select committee inquiry!

Really excited to see this continued movement (!) in Greater Manchester. The transformation of the city is an opportunity to check these assumptions - does the bus boost walking and wheeling? - and it's looking so good so far. I was writing something yesterday using the TfGM figures.
