AI companies are running out of data, humanists hold the key and thus the power on the future of AI. This is my AI collapse thesis. Shortly after sharing this on Meta platforms I was accused of not being human and my accounts (100k+) were shut down. #ai

Data like archives are not neutral. It's important to include humanists in conversations on AI.

I am convinced now more than ever that the key to better research and discovery is semantic search engines.

I cannot describe in proper words how painful it is to try to find something that you know exists, but are unable to locate due to outdated systems. Every database and library should switch.

Microsoft Word has been acting up a lot for me recently, so I need a new place to write my dissertation.

Has anyone used Scrivener? What are your thoughts? What writing software would you recommend?

I’ve spent 2 years trying to track down a primary source book. Only about 5 surviving copies exist in the world.

Then I finally reached out to my librarian and she was able to track down a copy within a week.

For every of historian, there are librarians making our work possible. 🗃️

One of the best, unputdownable trade press books I've ever read on the British Empire is Uncommon Wealth: Britain and the Aftermath of Empire by Kojo Koram.

I read it almost in one sitting, the only thing that interrupted me was the fact that I had to go teach a section. 🗃️

I just saw a fascinating thread on the history of black popes and would love to learn more! Are there any church or religious historians here I should be following ? 🗃️

It never gets old, but the fact that I get to wake up every morning and be a historian is such a blessing.

I spend all day working with academic historians, then evenings and weekends working on public history content. I couldn't have asked for a better life 🗃️

I am a historian not by mere choice, but because certain stories found me in the archives and demanded to be told. 🗃️

My Harvard ID is a photo of me when I was 19years old. Apparently I’m not allowed to change it, but it’s still okay because Harvard had changed me.

I’ve spent over a decade at #Harvard working as staff, research assistant, teaching fellow, now a PhD candidate.

In 1980s Czechoslovakia, the underground press spread banned ideas and inspired a peaceful revolution.
