I feel the exact same way and I’ve tried pushing through it, but I just can’t. I honestly believe that authenticity is punished there, whether by the algorithm or other users, so when you’re being true to yourself, it feels like you’re not welcome.

I talk into the void because, well, what’s new? I’m used to the invisibility. But if someone happens to read what I say and likes or agrees with it, that’s just a bonus. But other people’s acceptance of my thoughts is not what makes them worthy.

I’m old enough to remember the formative years of social media, when not a single person cared about likes or interaction, and even if they *never* got a single like, they’d still post a hundred times a day if they wanted to.

I don’t understand why it’s so hard to respect artists choices. You wouldn’t call Rihanna “Robin”, or Miley Cyrus “Destiny”.

What do we gain from knowing their birth names, anyway?

Let smaller creators also have a buffer of protection.
