If Buttó or Gilbert/Tidwell were enough to make the deal happen, it would have been Buttó or Gilbert/Tidwell and not all three.

A different [*cough* smarter *cough*] team probably would have asked for just one or two of the Mets’ better prospects (probably not one of the very top guys but maybe AJ Ewing or Jacob Reimer or someone of that ilk) and if those are the two options I will take this one instead.

Buttó has also been good at times but the lack of options makes him a hard guy to roster if he’s not gonna be more consistent. And see prior point re: Mets pitching development.

It wouldn’t shock me if Tidwell became a decent major league reliever. The Mets are also theoretically well on their way to being an org that can develop those kinds of guys fairly easily.

People would have been upset if this deal had been just Gilbert for Rogers and he might be the guy I’m least upset about losing of the three.

They are decidedly not allowed to do this during the ceremony itself at our school but once the ceremony is done they no longer belong to us and may make whatever terrible decisions they want to with their lives.

Any idea where he would rank amongst pitching prospects now if he were still eligible?

I think the concern more than anything else is whether or not he’s actually healthy and if that’s contributing to his struggles
