I don’t understand why we need to negotiate with the government of El Salvador. We are paying them to hold these people. We can just stop paying them. It’s ridiculous.

The regime doesn’t want him returned (assuming he’s still alive) because he will report on what conditions are like in the prison.

Can you explain why no one seems to mention that the US is paying a fortune to El Salvador to imprison the people we have sent there? If we stop sending them money seems to me they should return the detainees.

If we are in a constitutional crisis, what does that mean on a practical level? More chaos and lawlessness? What are the next steps?
