8/11 This results in functional networks whose cores are extremely stable, likely reflecting a genetic component expressed in utero that establishes a common baseline network organization.

6/11 One of our most striking (and unexpected) findings was that an individual child’s brain functional connectivity is more similar to their childhood peers than adults are to other adults. That is, children showed less inter-individual variability than adults.

5/11 Precision functional mapping allowed us to create highly precise and individualized functional network maps for each individual child. Not surprisingly, we found both broad similarities and unique features in network organization across children.

4/11 Here, we showcase precision mapping in a sample of twelve children 8-12 years old, each with 60-330 minutes of low-motion resting-state fMRI data, demonstrating feasibility, reliability, and some cool results.
