Been following this with my jaw on the floor. Measured gusts over 250mph? The radar and satellite images are something out of myth. The fact that it made landfall hours ago and is still this strong is insane. I KNOW some folks don't evacuate to shelters, too. I just hope most are able to.

And if you're looking for a soundtrack to reflect on the holiday, the 'Tricks have got you covered. I'm proud to make art alongside these wonderful folks, who I so often see stepping in with a hand or a shield for those who need it. May you have a restful and fulfilling Labor Day, my friends. (/🧵)

In the meantime, I'll keep finding ways to fight. I hope you do, too--and I hope you find moments to take respite between the battles, and to share a little time with your community reminding yourself of what it is that you're fighting for. (18/19)

I hope we get to see a day where Labor Day is something we have to explain to our kids like a history lesson, something that requires so much context about what life really WAS like at the time for it to even make sense. (17/19)

I hope that I keep seeing those little moments. Because just as before, the only way through is to fight, and to fight together. (16/19)

I also see plenty who have been caught in the wheels or who have BEEN fighting for so long, and who have been drained until they have little left to give. But for every exhausted victim, I also see the people stepping in to be shields, or to offer supporting hands. (15/19)

I don't know what the future ahead of us right now holds. I'm watching some people around us waking up. I see plenty of people finding ways to fight against injustice and abuse from corrupted authorities. (14/19)

That there are always people in authority who will grind your body and soul into ash for an extra dollar (without losing a wink of sleep), and that the only way to protect each other from their abuse is to fight, and to fight together. (13/19)

I may not remember many of the specific words my dad said when he told me those stories, but I remember how it felt. I remember his expressions, and the impressions I came away with -- (12/19)
