Of search.

It was always notable that there was more search diversity in the US compared to EU where Google is the market.

Would the RTB legal challenges not also be impacting this?

On the EU at least, the TCF mechanism hasn't gone down well with the CJEU, and the Meta decisions around profiling would also be worrying.

The ecosystem you outlined seems under threat despite AI, in the EU at least, where Google is 90%+

My first night here in ages.

City hasn't changed, but London in the cold, dry air is always something special.

Am flying to LHR next week.

I hope I don't accidently end up in France instead of Russell Square ...
November 11, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Makes sense. Haven't done LHR in ages. Some of the regional UK airports have you practically segregated until after normal passport control
November 11, 2025 at 4:07 PM
Still no excuse not to fly direct from Dublin though. LHR never makes anything better.
November 11, 2025 at 4:04 PM
To be fair, you don't go through passport control when landing in the UK from Ireland (CTA applies) and I guess it could be easy to miss the transfers as you get herded down a specific route.

Haven't done LHR in ages but this happens in all UK airports.

I've seen people have to ask how to connect

At least we can take comfort in the fact that securitization has never led global financial instability.

Very true!

You don't get that on Ryanair...

Any idea what level court this was?
November 6, 2025 at 9:09 AM
It isn't likely, but the mechanisms exist.

Not to be too pedantic, but using any US HQ'd DC means they are subject to potential government access, no matter the region used. Cloud act, and FISA would be two handy examples.

Regions don't override a domestic warrant / production order served in the USA.

I'm just happy the judgement is the week before my lecture on Gen AI IP cases, and not the day before like last time...

1) I can't understand how academia has collectively gone 'Lets all turn to Microsoft to manage our reach, engagement and public discussion'; and
2) That old API was heavily abused back in the day. It was great, tools like Rapportive made finding corporate contact details trivial.

He has a special place in my thesis, because they turned off the wifi in his pacemaker due to security concerns.
