I set aside that money for our family to be able to get our own house and not have to rent anymore. To have something to pass on to our children. I don't understand why someone would bring such misery to my family.

I have been bullied most of my life for being overweight, lacking confidence in myself, calling me stupid, lazy, or worthless, but I continue on with life being positive and showing people kindness. I try so hard to be a good person, yet my home was broken into.

I experienced so much trauma that I've pushed those memories into the back of my head to protect myself, to feel safe, loved, even just normal. I have a family of my own now, and I refuse to be like my father. Life has put other painful obstacles in my path as well.

Luckily, she put her right arm up and ended up with a broken forearm and a gash on the back of her head. My father ran off before the cops showed up but was later picked for domestic violence.

I remember falling back and seeing my father leave the house. My mother yelled at him out the door. The fight continued outside for the world to see. My father went straight to his car and got a tire iron. They struggled. The tire iron went across my mother's forehead.

Before we knew what was happening, all the people had left the party and and my father started pummeling my mother. That night, I decided to stand up for my mother and jumped on his back and tried to pull him off. My father threw me off his back, turned around, and punched me.

I have always helped people/ animals, but like many others, life has not always been kind to me. I came from a broken home where my father was very abusive toward my mother and us kids. I remember a situation at a house party my mother hosted where my father started an argument.

If I see unhoused people in need of clothes, money, or food, I provide with what I can spare. If unhoused/ surrendered animals show up in my yard, I find them help or otherwise keep them as my kids fall in love with them ( 7 cats, 1 dog, 2 guinea pigs and 2 roosters).

If it's hot outside and I see people without water, I offer it to them. If I see a car broken down in front of my house or elsewhere, I ask if they need help. If I go to a food bank and they give extra food, I share it with my neighbors.

I now drive her and the children everywhere because her eyes have gotten so bad. I used to work in manufacturing/ technology but I no longer because disabilities with my back, hip, hand, and arm. I'm the type of person who will help a stranger out.

We had to sacrifice a lot, especially since we are a one income household with 3 children still under our roof. My wife and I are both disabled. She can only do a part-time job, because her eyes, legs, feet, and ankles limit her mobility/sight.
