And hey, that is a totally reasonable criticism of leftist critiques of Harris/Dems, but it doesn't mean that leftists like trump or his policies, which someone unfamiliar with politics would likely think based on how OP has characterized us

There hasn't been a coalition UK government since the 2010 election, and that was only the second ever, it is not a necessity in parliamentary politics. SNP is not in a coalition with Farage, although they are on a power sharing agreement with the Greens in Scottish government, but not nationally.

It doesn't say that though
December 30, 2025 at 1:28 AM
While that is certainly a valid perspective, it is still very deceptive to tell someone unfamiliar with American politics that they support Trump. Like, the analogy would be like saying that the Green Party supports Farage, which would be similarly deceptive to someone unfamiliar with the UK

Or, based on a quick glance at your feed, are you saying that their criticisms the Democratic party, running as third party candidates, in some cases not voting at all, etc. functionally supported Trump?
December 30, 2025 at 1:23 AM
Can you point to a press release or public statement from anyone prominent in the DSA that supports trump? I haven't been involved with any of their organizing, but that is inconsistent with anything that I have seen from any of their chapters, let alone on the national scale

Straight from the DSA policy platform

This person is being wildly deceptive; the only organized "leftist" group in the US that supports anti-immigrant policies is the American Communist Party, which is widely viewed by the rest as grifters and frauds. The US left also generally sees the current conservative shift in Labour as aborent

but I am also very much looking forward to quiet nights on a back porch, space to work on my car, and a kitchen big enough to make food for all the people I care about

Totally! I myself am about to wrap up two years of living in an urban center to move in with some dear friends a little outside of the city. I will miss being able to walk to the grocery store, a volleyball game in the park, then to a queer bar all in one trip

*neighborhood politics are
August 24, 2025 at 11:17 PM
The suburban perception of urban life sucks, and sucks in a way that fuels reactionary politics, but that doesn't automatically mean that urbanists don't also have some bad knee-jerk reactions
August 24, 2025 at 11:16 PM
Access to art is often more limited, neighborhood often very spiteful and toxic, and racism absolutely built and continues to shape US suburban life, just as the risk of violent crime is often higher in cities, and many urbanist policies are cruel towards the people who cannot afford rent
August 24, 2025 at 11:13 PM
i.e. the perception that art and culture are only found in urban centers, that everyone in suburbia is champing at the bit to call the HOA on everyone they meet, that racism is a motivating factor for everyone in a single family home
August 24, 2025 at 11:09 PM
I also deeply despise that perception of cities, and think it is the worse(and particularly more racist) of the two sides, though I think it is disingenuous to claim that urbanists don't sometimes also express very unhelpful ideas about living in lower-density communities on the outskirts of cities
August 24, 2025 at 11:05 PM
Bush also presided over massive infringements on rights, imposed racist policies that killed many, many people, and let oligarchs run wild with the US government. If he opposes Trump, it is because he finds him gauche, not because they are politically different

Fascinated by the possibility of someone who enjoys your particular and eccentric content while simultaneously rejecting your particularities and eccentricities such as not liking buttered toast
