I have a really hard time remembering my original intentions for things, so I kinda always have to constantly deconstruct my work on any long term project ever. but it's very different to do it for something that's already finished.

but yeah anyways, working on this next game. I'm thinking a lot about the relationship players have with the medium, and how the expectations they bring can fill in the blanks in interesting ways.

I'm really happy with how streamlined the game ended up being. and the lack of highly specific communication has led to a lot of really interesting interpretations of the rules of play. but some areas might rely too much on that interpretation for some players.

I think most of the decision behind that was just lack of space. fitting each mask on only one page was a challenge, and some things had to be cut to make that work. but I don't think the game is any less whole because of that.

The modern equivalent of a heartbreaker is some game that no one has ever heard about that has amazing design principles that are innovative or elegant or just really well done, but that are languishing on itch because no one has ever thought to read it.

I think the contrast is extremely compelling! Superman stands out so much besides all the other characters. I think Lois and Clark's relationship is a really good microcosm of this actually, especially in that interview scene. The balance between cynicism and optimism is intrinsic to Superman
