🚨 Just published in Urban Studies, Vol 62, Issue 10!

Together with Yi Jin, I theorise entrepreneurial neo-managerialism in China’s urban governance.

In Luzhou’s shantytown redevelopment, we observe how the local state both redistributes and accumulates—balancing legitimacy and growth.

The Urbanising Dynamics of Global China, a book edition
Good to see the release of this copy, a republication edition of our journal special issue with the same title: w/ Yimin Zhao and Sin Yee Koh. It was a pleasant surprise when Taylor & Francis reached out in mid-November 2024 with a proposal to publish the above journal special issue papers as an edited volume. They had an editorial team that worked on the "Routledge Special Issues as Books programme", which seems to be actively looking for promising journal special issues that can be turned into an edited volume for wider audience reach.
