Hyperfixates on hobbies and local things. Loyal but anxious. You can either find me inside making sourdough/reading/crafting or outside walking/biking and calling out infrastructure failures. Walking on IG as speedhumpme
Chose the right day to visit Bellefontaine Cemetery, though I do wish we’d had less wind on the walk.

O’Fallon Park nearly 6 months after the St. Louis tornado. Trees have been removed but the landscape is forever changed. You hear talk of replanting at Forest Park but this one desperately needs it. This park is loved and people see the lack of planting as just one more way they’ve been forgotten.

Compare a tree uprooted in Holly Hills (high winds during storm) versus in Fountain Park (direct hit by tornado). One gets official streets department signage and a detour. The other gets infestation and a walk into traffic. Don’t tell me this is a matter of RFPs. If they wanted to, they would.

What in the landbanking is Starwood up to. Definitely not just focused on constructing the largest parking lots by hoping to acquire Interco Plaza Park too.

I see nothing here about Metro Bus Stops or bike lanes either. And yes, I absolutely saw people cycling during last winter’s snow. But Archie doesn’t seem to be running regularly so I’m not sure he’s up for snow clearance.

The response and aftermath of a fire. This is what vacancy looks like in St. Louis.

The difference in damage in homes that were vacant before the St. Louis tornado versus those that were occupied is stunning. There are exceptions of course with direct hits and deferred maintenance, but the story of which of this could be rebuilt is clear. Which ones will be rebuilt is another story

Today this home caught fire. It’s one of the last original homes on this block and now it’s gone. A past owner became the first female undertaker for St. Louis City, especially meaningful as she was the first Black woman to own an undertaking business in the city.

I walked Lewis Place and Fountain Park and I’ve never seen as many cats as I did in those St. Louis neighborhoods yesterday. This is a big shift from my Spring walks here. Not sure if these are displaced pets post-tornado or ferals using collapsed houses as homes but it’s troubling to see.

You have to see this Anselm Kiefer exhibit at the St. Louis Art Museum. It's monumental. Its scale is so massive but you'll find yourself wanting to have access to every single detail.

What could make McKee want to demo this after over a decade?

St. Louis Lambert International Airport on Monday will break ground on a new airfield maintenance and snow removal equipment facility, an important step before the larger project begins. Also buried in the business journal story are the vendors for the larger terminal project 👀

St. Louis also has another #WeekWithoutDriving opportunity on Sunday. During the Gravois Walk Audit, trash and overgrown landscaping were mentioned on every single feedback form. We’re going to make Gravois a better and cleaner place to walk or wait for a bus. Join us! bit.ly/GravoisCleanup

Another observation: on Gustine, a neighborhood street, there’s a 25 mph speed limit. Residents were concerned enough to add a speed hump but no one thought to lower the speed limit. #20isplenty

Begging a city official to consider just how dumb and inaccessible it is to block all 4 corners of an intersection during construction. Really loved having to walk into traffic on St. Louis Avenue. (As seen at 20th and St. Louis Ave)

And congratulations to this sidewalk hole! It’s been here so long that you might not know there’s a hole here because the plants now far exceed the depth of the hole. Someone is bound to be curious at the NGA ribbon cutting and want to see the new Pruitt Igoe marker and fall in. 🙏

I wanted to see the progress myself around the NGA. Cass is being repaved just around the NGA for its ribbon cutting. The sidewalks across the street are missing at best. A public road is closed because it goes past McKee’s failed “hospital” and its 4 security vehicles, and nature has taken over.

Weird because it seems like the accident was caused by one driver hitting another, unless wet roads can now attack cars www.firstalert4.com/2025/09/25/t...

Today’s walk was one I expected to be very boring but I saw more interesting things than expected. I also had several women want to chat about photos I was taking and they had such good neighborhood insights. I think all were a bit afraid of what I was doing but my love of STL always comes through.
