fair, fair, I just know the writers have said they don't pay attention to the birthdays when confirming ages, since they don't keep a timeline. They kinda just age up at the same time when they do an AMA or commentary XD Makes it hard to speculate but yeah roundabouts 19-20ish makes sense to me!

I just was curious, thanks for answering. 17/15 is like a sophomore in highschool dating a senior in highschool, so to me it's not so weird, but I totally get feeling otherwise! But Oscar and Ruby will age, so at some point they'd cross that threshold. That's all opinion tho so ty again for sharing

Oh, I do agree Oz greatly affects Oscar! Just not that he defines his whole identity or negates his personhood.
I'm not sure what age difference you'd find acceptable if 2 years is too many, though. My gf and I are 3 years apart and happy!

Ok, I'll leave it here. But I am genuinely listening & have made efforts not to invalidate your hcs. I do believe you're missing or ignoring canon narrative & framing, for whatever reason, but I thought we could discuss. I see now you just wanted to counter OP, but not to have your point countered.

you may disagree on the details, but Oscar not being his own person is fundamentally contradictory to his inclusion in the show. The Little Prince is all about growing up without losing yourself. Oscar is all about choice and change and identity. Him being nothing renders his character pointless.

It's an interesting and complex premise we've yet to see resolve, but Oz said with every merge "I am changed." Jinn said Oz only began to learn to live w the souls, proving the merge is malleable. Oscar being able to hold on to his identity while accepting new ones is fascinating and very plausible.

I've said my piece on the ages. But a merge of 2 souls is impossible if one doesn't exist. Our experiences shape us, but do not define us. Oscar is changed by Oz, but not erased or controlled. The incarnations are shown to have different personalities and choices. The souls combine, not delete.

I'm not trying to turn you into a shipper. I'm not trying to debate our hcs. I'm responding to your assertion the ship is weird even without Oz or age difference. This post is a hypothetical wherein Oz is gone. You said Oscar isn't his own person, which misses the point of his character and message

we were talking about why the ship is/isn't weird, but it pivoted to being about hcs of their identities. Differing on our preferences is great, but you're telling us our ship is weird. I gave rebuttals to your reasons for that claim, but instead of considering/discussing them, you've doubled down.

Ok but that's similar enough to imply shipping it is weird, even if not those exact words. Why tell people their ship is weird if you have no problem with them liking it? You first said the age gap is weird, then oz, then if neither were present, you're still "against" it bc you see Ruby as aroace

right, which is fine! Wanting rep is normal & I'm always down for more diverse queer rep. But going on a positivity post and calling shippers "weird" for not having the same view of the characters doesn't help that happen, it's just condescending and drives a wedge between us when we could be united

They didn't say you weren't aroace. They were saying using one identity hc to shut down another is something that's been done to aro/ace people in fandom all too often, so it's frustrating to see an aroace hc being used to shut down others. Green was expressing how that makes them feel.

right?? Fandoms are meant to be fun, where we get to imagine and analyze and enjoy characters in a variety of ways! Headcanon however you like! But don't enforce yours on others or call other ships weird or wrong because it doesn't match your hc. Aroace Ruby is cool and would never put up with this
