I'm loving this idea of a temporarily complete piece with a permanent component. Fizzy is continuing my exploration of my own emotions, while continuing to think about hydrology. #art #painting #flower #hydrology

My renewed art era is gonna be themed with branching out all over the place. Kinda currently liking the idea of painting jars with picking and arranging flowers. I used to not be a flower type of girl, but assembling this for a friend that's having a hard time made me pretty happy.

Last year, Odyn was petrified of the water. Getting to watch this dude overcome his fears has been so much fun. #pibble

A stream of bad news and it begins to seep through.

I just got over a 10 year long artist’s block. The socials hit me with some pretty hard messages I needed to hear. I’ll pass along a reoccurring message that “unused creativity turns into resentment”.

Anyways, here’s my second piece of #art since figuring this out. “Turbulence”

Taking a lesson from our dog, Odyn, today. Soak up as much sun as you can between the storms. Probably a good metaphor for life. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I asked him for his email and sent him all of the IRS documentation to prove it exists [photo proof here]. He said he'd need to talk to his manager and get back to me, but I felt good since at least I had his email. Surely, he'd get back to me. 2/7

I visited one of our odd national parks yesterday, Alcatraz, and in honor of @standupforscience.bsky.social, I thought I might write about the impacts of cutting science from a different perspective. The US prison system costs taxpayers approximately $80 billion annually [1]. Another lengthy 🧵, 1/n

First posts always make me nervous, but hello! I’m Sam. I’m a 2nd-year PhD student studying hydro-geomorphology, as I like to call it. From flow paths in non-perennial streams to hydrologic controls on large landslides! I’m also passionate about science communication and marginalized communities.1/?
