I'm not aware of anyone doing all the steps needed to go from nucleic acids to life. The individual ideas (RNA acting as an enzyme, other forms of DNA, other nucleic acids,etc) have been demonstrated exponentially. It's pretty wild how much progress has been made since I got my degree in 2010.
