If you're not super interested in tinkering for hours and just want something that works out of the box then I'd recommend staying away from Arch or NixOS. In those cases I'd probably recommend an Ubuntu for its support and KDE plasma for its similarity to Windows

Linux mint is a good distro for being lightweight but I think what most users would view as closest to windows comes down to which desktop environment they choose. If that's what someone is looking for than KDE plasma is the way to go!
