A solution to add supply without touching nature or green spaces is gentle density all over; 4-5 floors everywhere, like in Paris or Berlin.

If the objectors to new housing are genuinely concerned about "nature" and green spaces, they would strongly this.

They don't. They protest these too.

Where I live, NW London, a petition was signed by 52K people objecting to flats on scrub land next to tube tracks because of “possible impact on a badger sett”. Delayed project by 2 years.

The Planning System is broken.

And most of them stand at the exit door of buses blocking those getting out; there is plenty of space in the bus - many open seats - but there is a magnetic attraction to stand at the door (while wearing a backpack for added punch).
