Freya - The Elder of Water {For those of you who may recognise her, that's because I have reused the design of a different character! That character's name was Kappa. Both Freya and Kappa had very similar lore and very similar designs so to stop any confusion (and to make room for a new character) I merged them together! :>}

The character herself is also called Nevanthi :> I was sent a picture of Neva (the artist) wearing a really cool dress in the pose featured in this artwork. I thought to myself, wouldn't it be cool to draw the character based off the artist in that pose. So I did !

‘You’re walking alone through the forest, twigs snap and leaves crunch under your feet. Your breathing is shallow, your energy has depleted from the running you’ve been doing. A bush rustles near you and your head snaps in that direction. A thud comes from in front of you and your head now shoots in that direction. A wave of dizziness and nausea sweeps over you. Before you a creature is perched on the dirt path. Its wings expand skyward and you have to tilt your head up to get a full view of them. You look back down and a smirk is present of its face’ So lore time ! This character doesn’t yet have a name and is in the very early concept stage. She is part of a rare species (that also doesn’t have a name yet) and is the chief of her specific village. This particular village has lost their ability to fly after confrontation with one of the Eous. This character blames herself for the loss of flight as she is one of the descendants of the person responsible for the angered Eous. Since being told the story of her ancestor, she has sought after any information regarding the Eous responsible. She hopes to one day find them and fix the mistake of her ancestor, bringing flight back to the village.

An Excerpt from Volume 4 of the Light Novel “You seem most fatigued, Master Jinshi,” she said. He only stared at her vacantly. “I think you had better rest.” “Yes, fine. I'll do that.” That'll be for the best, Maomao thought—but Jinshi didn’t move. “Master Jinshi?”’ She crouched down and shook his shoulders. Huh, she thought, actually, maybe I can just call him Jinshi now. While she was thinking it over, though, Jinshi said, “This will be my pillow’— and put his head smack on Maomao’s knees. The crown of his head was pressed up into her stomach, and his arms were wrapped around her back. “Master Jinshi...” He didn’t say anything. Was he asleep, or just pretending? The madam quietly placed a fine cushion and some incense in a corner of the room, then showed herself out. Maomao sighed, then reached for her pestle. The smell of the medicine she was crushing mingled with the incense, and the sound of the pestle working was accompanied by Jinshi’s even breathing. My legs are going to fall asleep, Maomao thought, as she began working on a new medicine.

The designs on the top row are my first concepts while the ones on the bottom row are designs I wanted to experiment with more. I wanted to see how I could change the design over time to fit how the character ends up !
