Diane says because the woman can sign, I can understand her clearly. Gemma says Leeds BID have been brilliant. They've taken a lot off my hands, so I don't have to support my parents and I can get advice and support, especially in terms of PIP and things.

22% of people who contacted us during April to June were about GPs & Primary Care. These included:
• Difficulty getting appointments/long waits
• Problems with PATCHS & online systems
• People feeling unsupported & staff attitudes
• Mental health support

We want to share our solidarity and support in light of recent anti-migrant and racist events.
Healthwatch Leeds statement of solidarity and support. We are an organisation that is here to listen to people’s experiences of health and care and give people a voice to shape and improve health and care services for everyone. We have recently seen a rise in anti-immigration protests across the country, including against refugees and asylum seekers. We are deeply concerned about the toll that recent acts of racism and violence are having on individuals and communities. These events have made many people feel worried, marginalised and unsafe, which we know will result in a negative impact on their health and wellbeing. We are proud to be part of a diverse city, helping a mixture of people, cultures and communities, as well as the diversity within our own staff team and volunteers. Whilst we acknowledge that people may have legitimate concerns, we have no tolerance towards acts of racism, violence and discrimination. These acts are hate crimes and are illegal. People seeking sanctuary often face significant barriers to accessing health and care services (facing significant health inequalities). At Healthwatch Leeds, we believe everyone has the right to access high-quality, welcoming and safe health and care services. Now is a crucial time to create a respectful and inclusive environment. We are taking action to ensure that our staff and volunteers feel supported and safe, and we are here to support the people in Leeds to access the health and care that they need. Part of our role is to offer information and signposting so we can help connect people with local services. We want to assure you that everyone feels safe at Healthwatch Leeds. We are here for everyone, and we will make sure everyone’s voice is heard. For mental health • Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service – providing talking therapies and mental health support to people of Leeds. • Together Women Leeds – offers support to women affected by isolation and discrimination • Mindwell – a website listing all local mental health support services in Leeds, as well as self-care advice. For community groups and safe spaces • Leeds Refugee Forum – A safe and inclusive space for refugees, asylum seekers and allies. • Forum Central – A network of local groups supporting community health and inclusion.
