One reason why the Rohingya Genocide was effective was because the Myanmar gov. pushed disinformation on Facebook, and to Myanmar citizens, they relied on Facebook for Internet just like we relied on Google.
It's interesting how we, in the West, have become reliant on social media for news now, too.

I hate social media because I'm concerned for the safety of children. But when TikTok gets banned, children are just going to flock to Facebook Reels and YouTube Shorts.
