Additional organizations I am supporting are Project Democracy ( protectdemocracy.org) @democracydocket.com and @democracyforward.bsky.social I chose these organizations because they’re fighting Trump’s Project 2025, which seeks to consolidate executive power and weaken democratic institutions.
Protect Democracy
It can happen here. We can stop it.

Trying to figure out how to apply the lesson of "defend institutions" took what felt like 1,000 years. Only one decision I made about this lesson was easy, support PBS. It gives me a great amount of pleasure knowing how much Trump hates both PBS and NPR. (see additional organizations in comments)

With limited time and energy, I’m focusing on sources that cut through the noise, like Democracy Docket, Under the Desk News, Aaron Parnas, and Bernie Sanders’ YouTube channel. Right now, these are helping me stay informed without feeling drained. It’s just week one, after all.

I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on what not obeying in advance means for me personally.
As someone who wants to stay true to my convictions but feels overwhelmed by the political chaos, it’s tempting to step back. That, however, would feel like obeying in advance.

I’m starting with reading the book On Tyranny Twenty Lessons From The Twentieth Century by Timothy Snyder. With each lesson I am making a decision of how I can apply that lesson. If anyone is interested in how I apply these lessons, I am happy to share. We need a community of support.
