DEC enforces the brush burning ban from March 16 thru May 14 to prevent wildfires and protect communities. Violators are subject to criminal & civil enforcement actions, with a minimum fine of $500 for a first offense. Residents are encouraged to remove leaves & debris from areas close to homes.
