Oh yes, I can see that “range restriction“ gives me lots of results, though none so far specific to the common cause case. Amusingly, the Google AI answer gets common causes and colliders totally mixed up!

I read Williams as replying to a generic objection to the block view, to the effect that it leaves something out. Read that way, it seems to count as an argument. Here’s a pictorial version of Williams’ point I’ve used in talks. We know what the yellow chap is missing. The motion is inside.
