I was donating the excess to churches along on journey. DM knew, party had no idea (couldn’t beat my sleight of hand and deception checks). I also became party tactician and saved their lives constantly . . . but “still couldn’t trust an infernal”. Was running so may cons on my own party. 😂

It can be really important to follow the character. Once I was a party rogue, very collaborative and good-oriented. Party all saw tiefling rogue and IC always distrust & assume I was being shady. So out of spite I started skimming party gold (in front of their eyes thanks to high skills) . . .

Get a consent check from other player and DM . . .but do it. Conflict can lead to great team building within a party, or it can expose some much-needed communication fixes at the player level. But if you’re being true to your character in a way that means to help build upon story: absolutely do it.
