If i asked you to imagine a butterfly, what do you imagine? For me it's a monarch. Don't know why exactly, they've always just been the default. It's easy to forget how distinct and beautiful they are when you've grown up around them your whole life

I held my hand out gently for him to climb on but as soon as I saw his antennae I knew he was a male and I just grabbed him. He seemed only a little put out by this

Found a mantis at work. She was sleeping very peacefully before I came along, but I wanted to find her a safer place to nap. Turns out mantises are really good fliers so now she's on the roof, where she will certainly be safe from me

Saw my second favorite pnw digging wasp yesterday. They were doing something where some of them would lie in the sand and others would land on them aggressively and fly away. Very cute but i have no idea why. Fighting? Mating? Being silly?

I'm pretty sure this is a bee but she looks so much like a fly with those big ol eyes. I found her dozing on the sidewalk and moved her to a plant for safety
