I fail to see the problem with doing that mine falls immediately after a major holiday so I do end up buying myself things, wrapping them, and adding a tag saying to future self from past self.

I know what you mean. It's more of something that I've noticed over the years when I worked retail in a small town. You start to see the same people and notice they act differently only on Valentine's Day and once it's over, they go back to being miserable and fighting. It's sad.
