Cruelty is the point.
I served as a VISTA in NOLA after Katrina working along side many NCCC teams. An incredible amount of work completed for pennies on the $. I’m sure many of them went on to careers in service to community. This is not about efficiency.

April 9th, DOGE entered the AmeriCorps Offices. On April 15th, they forcibly returned NCCC Members from their service projects at tremendous cost. On April 16th, 85% of AmeriCorps staff were placed on administrative leave.
Contracts canceled.
Lives uprooted.
Americans left to fend for themselves.
