I also came across someone recently who claimed to work with complex trauma - but when I inquired about training, they’d done none and stated they based it on their own experiences. That was wild to me!

I’m not sure where you are based, but in Australia there isn’t any regulation over the term ‘therapist/counsellor’, which means unfortunately somebody could call themselves a therapist and not have had training or sufficient training.

As I’m also trained as a therapist, I suppose I wanted to clarify lived experience as a system vs experience working with systems in a professional capacity. Hope that helps!
