I'm a children's book editor, teacher and workshop presenter, owner of The Purple Crayon website -- www.underdown.org

I post about #kidlit, but I do have opinions about other things and will share them as well.
I suggest following @authorsguild.org , then. They regularly post about this and other US publishing news.

My only point is that it's not news. The settlement was announced on Sept. 25. Now you know.

We all live in our own universes. In my universe, the universe of US children's publishing, this has been in the news for months, going back *before* the settlement.

That's interesting. I guess we circulate in different bubbles. In my bubble--US children's book publishing--this case has been constantly in the news, going back before the settlement was announced on Sept. 25.

This was announced in September. And this has been actively discussed in writing and publishing circles ever since. This is not news.

Yes. 1 and 2 as justifications for 3.

What were they thinking?!? I suspect that problem is that they weren't thinking.

Thanks! Makes sense. I just hadn't seen "metadata" used in that context before (and suspect some writers also wouldn't be familiar, so I asked.)

Great info! Could you explain "not providing metadata "? What does that mean in a query? I assume it doesn't mean the data that is fed to A**zon and others in order to set up a book page. Thanks!
