Is Timber fully fit? As good as each player is, they haven’t played in this composition this season.

His shooting is still very wayward. Movement and carrying very much welcome.

Yeah, and the Dubai boost isn’t there at all this season.

We’re not very clear about who is doing what in midfield and they are. Defenders going up to join the attack, which is great, but it’s not adding much to the threat.

It’s as if there is an expectation that we’ll win the game in the last 20 mins each time. Very odd. We started so much faster two years ago.

Stark… Merino already in the joint lead.

Him, Rice and Nwaneri held most of the match together.

It is always the hope that kills though, right?

Joelinton gets reffed differently
January 18, 2025 at 1:38 PM
Wait, Joelinton first karate kicked him from behind and when Kluivert rose with a kind of “wtf, bro” denature, Joelinton shoved him. That’s the context. That Kluivert then took offence is kind of understandable.

Genuine lol. Save this one.

It has to eventually lead to more goals, right? Has to… right..?
January 16, 2025 at 11:49 AM
I think you’re spot on. Game of control and minimisation of single-moment decisive acts (in pref of systematic breakthroughs), which relies on confident strikers to get their goals.
January 13, 2025 at 12:26 AM
No other team seems to have so few teammates showing up to receive, right? It must be strategic but it’s odd to watch.

I really liked the football two seasons ago. It had sparks and interesting interlink play, plus we were so superior in most matches it was a breath of fresh air. Last year, it turned kinda Pep-like and that wasn’t fun, but we still won most times. This season, the lower win rates make it more obvs

100%. Either the backups are viable options or it’s a waste of everyone’s time.

Trossard had a purple patch last season, Martinelli the season before. The question I wonder is, was that a one-off or is this season a one-off? And also, are they less effective because of the system or is it just form / luck?

To quote a popular Brazilian soap opera (which seems fitting for this conversation): Los ricos también lloran ("The Rich Also Cry")

The stadium might cost a few bob.

Absolutely brilliant. Maybe the best one yet.
December 19, 2024 at 12:43 AM
No one does anything unpredictable, apart from Saka and maybe O. There’s too much focus on standing in your spot and waiting for the routine.
December 14, 2024 at 5:07 PM
Maybe keeping the second striker on the bench for so long is one of the issues, though. There’s not been a ton of striker rotation, and that was true when GJ was the front man.

The first 11 mins felt like a summary of the game. Ten mins of perfect domination by The A without a major chance. Fulham get the ball, pass, run, shoot, score.
