Absolutely. Also, he plays his best hockey during playoffs.

This is something that stuck me with Dobes while he was playing with Ohio State University right until he started with the Habs. Essentially, he used to be quite committed to move forward if necessary to steal the puck. Goalie coaching is questionable. They no longer can poke check a puck.

Almost a euphemism

Good point. Brook was good at everything but he was lacking elite attributes. Odds are better for Pickford.

Also Xhekaj metrics on possession are better than Struble despite the fact that Arbor has became completely bland under Robidas. Habs are ruining him.

I dont know if this still holds true:
Likely Range for NHL
• Tripping: 19%
• Slashing: 18% (post-2017)
• Hooking: ~10-15% (described as among top penalties)
• Holding: 12%
• Interference: ~5-10%
• Roughing: ~5-10%
• High-sticking: ~5-10%
• Cross-checking: <5%
• All others combined: ~20-25%

Habs don’t have much margin. How is it possible for a team that soft to get so many penalties. It doesn’t make any sense. It would be interesting for someone to review the footage objectively and compare Habs penalties compared to the infractions that are not called on the opposing teams in general

Once again Grant got it right with Pickford and Paupanekis. I like the fact that despite recovering from mononucleosis, he has improved a lot of the faceoff and he’s starting to shoot more like he did at the end of last season.

I appreciate the show. I think you are touching a sensitive nerve for the league. One thing to consider, any teams that play against MTL know that they won’t get called so they come with a natural swagger while MTL is always playing with fear of being called on soft or ghost plays. Unfair advantage.

If I am not mistaken, NYR is ranked 6th for most penalties. Twice they met the Habs and suddenly became the least penalized team in the league. The tripping on Kapanen was something.

Time to reconsider what Robidas brings to the team now. He did an excellent job but Habs need a different style or approach now.
December 14, 2025 at 2:32 AM
During the last 4 years, Habs have paid a huge price for rostering Weber, Chariot and Edmundson.
December 14, 2025 at 2:19 AM
Defensemen are too soft. Is it Robidas’ teaching style that needs to be addressed? It’s time to bring someone else.

The rules shall be enforced if and only if the player that cause an offside as touch the puck in the offensive zone.

It certainly reminds me to stay humble. What an inspiring career, Sidney Crosby.
December 9, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Indeed, Pickford is on fire. I think in the history of the WHL only 6 Defensemen scored 40 goals in a single season. Another COTW gem.

Considering top-50 performances over the years only a few had a meaningful career in the NHL: Bear (28), Morrissey (28)

On Watch:
Zellweger (32); Yakemchuk (30)

From season to season in the NHL, teams are expecting 10 wins over 25 games from their auxiliary goaltenders. Can we say « mission accomplished » by Jakub Dobes.
December 7, 2025 at 7:48 PM
I understand your point about goalies especially when Fowler is already a lock in the top-5

Habs had a crazy run last season and made the playoffs then they traded their 2 first round picks and despite it drafted 5 players Zharovsky, Paupanekis, Pickford, Mooney, Cournoyer that will help them…5
