It’s been storming here every night for the past four nights. I love going to sleep to the sound of the rain & thunder, but the great hailstorm of a few years ago is always in the back of my mind & I wonder if I’m going to wake up one morning to a broken skylight & water through the apartment.

Finally read the @nkjemisin.bsky.social Cities duology. Aside from it being a great story (a given), holy shit did she accurately take the temperature of the US. Having seen particularly 2024 roll out as it did, it felt utterly prophetic as I read its 2022-released words. Powerful; painful.

A reminder: If you treat folks like shit when they risk discussing their personal politics, you're training them to never discuss those politics with others and therefore never give others the chance to change their mind.
