Folktales are not just quaint stories to be dusted off once in a while. They are messages in a bottle reflecting the lived experiences of our ancestors and sent down the river of time in hopes that we may find them and absorb their wisdom. (1/6)

In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, and the theme of “African Americans and Labour”, we are exploring Black Southern Folklore’s most famous story, “Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby.” Much like the trickster rabbit, it often deceives us into thinking of it as a simple children’s tale. (1/3)
