PSA: if you must do butt stuff a flared base is your friend. Your colon just loves to gobble up non-flared base toys and you will get an ER visit for your troubles. Yes, I get to see what you used along with the perforated colon. Stay safe out there!

Some more super cool looking gallstones.

On the first day after Christmas my surgeon gave to me… an unpreped (full of poop) colon and a stopped up sink. 🤢

I’m proud of myself for finding this clip in a breast specimen today. The ruler is in centimeters.

After inking a breast it made a pretty pattern on the paper towels

I love having med students and people that come to shadow me. They seem to be most surprised at how small a normal uterus is.

I don’t usually giggle while grossing specimens but then I get a partial sleeve gastrectomy (stomach stapling) which is chock full of crinkle fries. I just can’t contain myself.

I would like to formally change the phrase “needle in a haystack” to “clip in a breast.” It feels so good when I find it, but it is gosh darn hard sometimes.

I just have to appreciate a well sectioned membrane roll.
