I have this Scorpion pepper based Indonesian style hot sauce that I usually use for stir fry, but I got the idea to use it for some wing sauce. I worked with ChatGPT to come up with a peanut-coconut milk dipping sauce and the results were 🔥. Seriously my mouth is on fire, but it turned out great.

Pork Belly Burnt Ends and Smoked Mac and Cheese for this independence day. Followed by a few s'mores.

Antipasti kind of dinner with homemade Caponata. Caponata is kind of like a eggplant based relish with a sweet and sour tomato sauce. I really dug and Julia even kind of liked it. Surprised we didn't run across it when we were in Sicily.

Completed Moon-fecta last night, three Moon themed games in three weeks, with Shackleton Base. I liked it way more than Power Grid: Outpost, but about the same as Skymines. I found it heavier than Skymines, but I liked both games.

Finally made it to the Mystic Aquarium and we got to hang out with these little guys.

I've wanted to checkout Louis Lunch for a long time. Recognized by the Library of Congress as the birthplace of the hamburger sandwich. They still use the same traditional ovens and serve them without condiments. Glad I tried it, but didn't knock my socks off.

Starting our Connecticut weekend get away at Blossom Cafe for asian fusion breakfast. Both the Japanese Souffle Pancakes and the Korean Egg and Bulgogi breakfast sandwich were great.

Skymines tonight. Another mid-weight game that I quite enjoyed. Kind of a deck builder with an interesting discard pile management mechanism. And reminded me a bit of Imperial 2030 with the investing aspect.

Wondrous Creatures. What a super fun and well designed middle weight game.

Double awesome scallion pancake class at Mei Mei Dumplings in South Boston.

Mother's day brunch. Great maple sausage, very meh cinnamon roll.

17 year date-a-vesery at Buttercup, right down the street. I keep wondering how this place is. The drinks were good, but the food was pretty meh.

Everdell. Fun mid-weight and came in second after the second tie breaker.

First time shopping at Costco since 2006. I had two hotdogs and OMG they were so big. That's what she said.

Fun trip to SoCal for Chris and Shawn's 50th.

Julia is out of town. I ate a big steak, drank too much and watched The Happening. Drinking too much is required to watch The Happening. It's truly awful.

The medieval synagogue of Córdoba was closed today, but I had got a tasting menu at a nearby Sephardic restaurant. They were so happy I wanted to try their food. They kept bringing extra dishes and pouring house-made wine. The food wasn’t very good, but their hospitality made it a memorable meal.

The Roman bridge of Cordoba with the statue of the archangel Rafael. Rafael is said to have protected Cordoba form every plague starting with the Black Death except COVID-19. So either it's superstition or God has forsaken us.

The Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba is such an interesting blend of Muslim and Christian architecture. While all my favorite pics are if the Muslim architecture, the cathedral is stunning as well.

Cold rainy day in Toledo.

These Judiones de la Granja or "Beans from the Farm" were amazing. The beans are kind of like butter beans, but I liked their consistently better. The broth was so delicious with the smokiness of the chorizo and fat from the ham.

Tried an Argentinian steakhouse expecting meh since they offered a 18€ prefix dinner. Declined the prefix and they led me through the bar filled with tourists to a back-room which was a proper steakhouse. Steak was cooked at low end of medium, but quite tasty. I was really happy with the meal.

I love Rioja, so it’s been my go-to in Spain. Had plenty this trip, but learned Spaniards love G&Ts, sometimes with over-the-top garnishes. Trying one at this gin bar with Nordés Gin from NW Spain. Not too flashy, but a generous pour and pretty good. Need to find one of the crazy ones. #TravelSky
