I miss the One Glance forecast, with climate and daylight data. Also, I used to get 3 Mile ENE Knik point forecasts; we are not in the same microclimate as ER or Birchwood airport. 😮‍💨

Anchorage is already one time zone east of its true solar time zone when we're on standard time.I agree that DST makes the solar v observed zone mismatch worse.But our state spans many degrees of longitude, making it impossible to have a single zone fit all of mainland AK.

I'm an elderly female scientist who got comments along the lines of "you should be home with a husband and kids" while doing oceanographic research in the late 1970s. There were no female professors in my graduate program, either. Expectations have a huge influence on learning.

Whereas, here on the Anchorage Hillside in Southcentral AK, fall and early winter is when we get strong downslope winds. In the 90s mph twice at my house in the past two months! Whittier:Anchorage pressure gradient tells the story.
