I explore this materialization of some crypto networks in #Russia, #Kazakhstan, and #Kyrgyzstan, where #digital mining has emerged under technical and political conditions shaped by the #Soviet legacy & the #USSR dissolution, also highlighting contemporary dynamics unique to each of these countries.

Crypto mining, through its computation power, is a critical component of complex #digital infrastructures as #Bitcoin is. Its shapes & scales reflect historical evolution of these networks, analyzed as geopolitical spaces, and the territorial specificities of the regions where it takes place.

It presents an overview of my doctoral research, examines #crypto mining as a process embedded within the territorial logics and dynamics of the regions in which it is developed, as well as within the broader #digital infrastructures it sustains.
