Had my 1st Medicare wellness visit today and had to answer a lot of questions, including primary mode of transportation. Proud to write in bike!

My commutes haven’t felt safe and a few big incidents really rocked me. I’m riding less and driving more. Trying not to die on a bike.

Sitting at a red light yesterday in a car after a beautiful #trailnet ride, a crash in the intersection was pushed into me. If I was on my bike, like I usually am, I would not be posting this. Traffic violence is real.

Angry dude close passed me then cut me off on my commute yesterday. He stopped and I thought he was going to get out of his truck and punch me. Why? Because I was on his road, in a bike lane and he has to slow a bit to take a turn. Was in shock so didn’t say much to his yelling.

Riding bikes is 10X more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities. And that’s just the climate emissions. Doesn’t include the massive public & personal cost, the air & noise pollution, the huge space difference, etc… @theconversation.bsky.social

Close call with a car turning into a business (car detailing!) while riding on a sidewalk to the grocery. A quick move to my left and him slamming on the brakes saved me. He was flying to cross two lanes of oncoming traffic. Not feeling safe even on sidewalks.

Proud to have helped Trailnet increase awareness about how dangerous distracted driving is and Missouri’s new Hands-Free Law. Lots of work to do but good progress.
