I have an idea of it as a form of bribery: the politician does things to benefit group X as they know that, having done so, group X will make them rich through speaking fees etc. the speaking fees show the current politicians what awaits them if they play ball.

Tell the people who are organising the awards: as it stands who would want to win their award if it’s just AI slop being voted for by bots?

Genuine question: where does that stat come from? Can well believe it, particularly given the explosion in SUVs (unaccompanied by an equivalent explosion in farming and/or off-roading)

It’s awesome: I have young kids who love it and live in an area with lots of families so people really get into it. It’s very family friendly, everyone is out on the streets for a few hours, and the kids all seem to get that you just take one sweet and everyone gets to take part.

Especially when the technology is now there, the improvements being made are incredible, and the transition to net zero should be seen as a fantastic opportunity

Well I genuinely hope you’re right and it gets resolved, but I’m afraid I have zero faith that it will and am not willing to support the BBC in the meantime. It is a shame but they’ve brought this on themselves and I expect have alienated a lot of people who would have previously supported them
