Nothing is being ignored or avoided. It’s simply that this form of reporting does not give room for analysis of reasons for events. News stories never do.

We do a lot of climate and weather reporting elsewhere. Emergency broadcasting is really only focused on the immediate risks to the public. This piece is meant to be about how that was organised. But you’re right, there is another piece to do asking why this confluence of weather events happened.
